MANIFESTATIONS/SYMPTOMS OF DEMONIC INFLUENCE

FRUIT MANIFESTATIONS

“Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?” Matthew 7:16

Manifestations may be in two realms:

1. The dream world

2. The physical realm

The experience of the insane man of Gadara comes handy here – Read Mark 5:1-20.

MANIFESTATIONS/SYMPTOMS OF DEMONIC INFLUENCE

Listed below are some suggested symptoms. This is by no means an exhaustive list, nor must the list be used to label individuals. They have come out of our many years of dealing with cases of demonic oppression and possession. May the Lord use them to enlighten you and cause your liberty to come forth in Jesus’ name, AMEN.

A. DREAM WORLD

 Insomnia

 Nightmares

 Communicating with spirits of the dead (necromancy) Deut. 18:11

 Astral travels/astral projections

 Sexual relationships in dreams but loss of libido in the physical

 Eating and flying in dreams

 Marriages in dreams. Spouses in dreams but not able to keep one in the physical

DREAM WORLD

 Births/ Children in dreams but not in the physical

 Extreme wealth in dream world, but none or minimal in the physical

 Occult initiations in dreams.

B. PHYSICAL REALM

1. Personal/Social Life

 Habitual sin

 Unbreakable habits

 Guilt complexes

 Suicidal or homicidal tendencies

 Persistent depressions

 Evidence of generational curses

 Alcohol and drug dependent living

 Sexual perversions

 Easy tendency for violence

 Spirit of rejection

 Persistent fear, especially fear of the unknown

 Feelings of insecurity

 Love for aloneness and loneliness

 Bouts of confusion and indecision

 Unpredictable behaviors and character 111

PHYSICAL REALM

2 Occult/ Mystic Tendencies

 Satanic/occultic practices even causing blood letting and death

 Ritual killings

 Special interest in seeing blood spilled

 Witchcraft, Ouija Boards, secret cults, palmistry, astrology, etc.

3 Marital Life Repeated and irresistible manifestations of the following:

 Extra-marital relationships or affections

 History of unstable marital relationships

 Strong desire to see spouse when spouse is absent, but a depressed feeling for the same spouse when physically present

MARITAL LIFE

 Absence of feelings/affection for children.

 Child abuse and hatred for children.

 Hate and persistent bitterness and unforgiveness for spouse.

 Loss of libido each time proper marital relationship is sought, with the opposite happening in dreams plus frigidity.

 History of divorces and inability to keep spouse or stable relationship.

4. Spiritual Life

 Spirit of hate and unforgiveness

 Bitterness/Resentment

 Inferiority/superiority complexes

 Morbid fear

 Persistent sleepiness during prayer or the study of the Bible

 Visions of strange beings

 Physical encounters with strange beings

Spiritual Life

 Hatred for men or women of God.

 Sleepiness and sudden tiredness when the Word is preached.

 Confusions during the reading of God’s word.

5 Family

 History of curses running through family

 Premature and sudden deaths

 Certain diseases running through family from generation to generation.

 Witchcraft, occultism, idolatry and other demonic tendencies in family

 Royal families involved in demonism

 History of various types of abuses in family history.

 Neglect and isolation in the family.

 History of single parentage in family.

 History of hate and bitterness and infighting in family.

6. Employment/Business

 Repeated ill luck or misfortune

 Always odd-fellows out of admissions, employments, promotions, etc.

 Repeated failures at exams after working so hard

 Sudden blackouts, confusions and indecisions in business transactions

 Inexplicable losses of purses or money

 Incessant car wrecks

 Inexplicable loss of dresses, suits, jewelry from closet, etc.

 Consistently unproductive financial investments

 Always in debt and never able to repay

 Propensity for wrong business and wrong company, example: drugs, fraudulent businesses, etc.

 Always getting close to a financial breakthrough but never making it

7. Health

 Particular deaths at particular times in the family

 Hereditary sicknesses and diseases

 Congenital illnesses and diseases

 Lack or loss of will, determination, purpose or vision in life

 Easy forgetfulness

 Gradual and progressive mental retardation

 History of mental illnesses in family

 Persistent and multiple surgeries

 Fear/Anxiety neurosis

 Annual or seasonal sicknesses and diseases

 Living/working only to pay medical bills

WHAT DO YOU DO ABOUT THESE CONTROLLING SYMPTOMS?

CASTING OUT DEVILS

“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils, they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Mark 16:17-18

What has been presented above is a summary of manifestations. It is by no means exhaustive and should serve only as a guide: nor should they be used against individuals or treat them with contempt but rather with compassion.

WHAT DO YOU DO ABOUT THESE CONTROLLING SYMPTOMS?

Individuals presenting some or all of these symptoms must be loved, listened to and treated with respect. Psalm 19:14 is a good psalm for them to read and pray about before coming for deliverance. There are three phases to deliverance.

A. PREPARATION

“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.”

Psalm 19:14

PREPARATION:

The following are three things that those who need deliverance must come before the Lord with:

1. Repentant hearts (Isaiah 66:1-2)

2. Faith (Romans 10:9-10)

3. A life of holiness (1 Peter 1:15-16) In preparation, they must:

 Avoid unnecessary fasts

 Not come in anger, bitterness, resentment or unforgiveness

 Not come with unconfessed sins or habits

Any or all of these may give the devil a foothold. Finally, if they possess any items from the occult world or spiritist churches, they need to turn them in at this stage. We find a similar example in the scripture in Acts 19:19…

PREPARATION

“Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.” Acts 19:19

3. Types of Deliverance

1. Life of the Deliverance Minister The life of a believer who ministers deliverance must possess the following seven (7) ingredients at all times.

a. They must be born again (Acts 4:12, John 3:3-5) See the example of the seven sons of Sceva in Acts 19:11-27. b. Holiness – 1 Peter 1:15,16 120

PREPARATION

c. Revelation Knowledge of the Word – Psalms 107:20; Ephesians 1:17-23 d. Prayerful Life – James 5:16; Luke 18:1; Matthew 26:41 e. Faith – Hebrews 11:1,6; Romans 10:9-10 f. Conversant with the power in the use of the Name of Jesus – Philippians 2:5-11; Colossians 1:15-17;2:9; Mark 16:17-18 g.

Understand how to yield to the move and the power of the anointing of the Holy Spirit – Acts 10:38; Isaiah 10:27; Luke 4:18

2 Procedures In ministering deliverances, the Holy Spirit may lead a person into one or a combination of the following directions or procedures:

PROCEDURES

a. The worship/anointing method – Acts 16:24-26; I Samuel 16:16, 21-23, 13. The oppressed/possessed may receive deliverance during Praise/Worship. b. The fasting method – Mark 9:25-29 Fasting to set the oppressed/possessed free. The minister fasts on behalf of the oppressed. c.

The Word method – Psalms 107:20; Matthew 8:8; 12:37; Hebrews 4:12; Proverbs 18:21. The Word of God delivers. d. The Intercession method – Luke 22:31-34; Exodus 32:32; Ezekiel 22:30; Galatians 3:13-14. Standing in the gap to deliver the oppressed/possessed.

PROCEDURES

Any or all of these methods may be applied to oneself or another by the laying on of hands, etc. or on behalf of another in prayer of deliverance as the Holy Spirit leads. These demons must be cast out by the power of the Holy Spirit in the Name of Jesus (Philippians 2:10-11; Mark 16:17-18).

3. Types of Deliverance

a. General Deliverance – by all believers – Mark 16:17,18 b. Deliverance by Faith – by ministers of the Lord not specifically called to the ministry of deliverance; but who, as the Spirit leads, exercise faith in that area.

TYPES OF DELIVERANCE

c. Deliverance by Revelation – where the revelation gifts of the Holy Spirit expose (Colossians 2:15) the specific demons that oppress an individual or group of persons. The diagnosis here is very specific. This is the ultimate deliverance because the roots are rooted out.

Individuals who operate here are specially called by the Holy Spirit and are endowed with revelation and power gifts of the Holy Spirit to operate in this office.

However, whichever type or a combination of types the Holy Spirit uses, what is important is to SET THE CAPTIVES FREE IN THE NAME OF JESUS! (Luke 4:18) Over the years, we have seen people delivered and totally set free, but some go back to their old ways and because of that are not able to keep or sustain deliverance.

This will be the subject of our next examination.

PART XIV - MAINTAINING YOUR DELIVERANCE

JESUS' FREEDOM

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”

John 8:36

The scriptures declare in Luke 11:24-26:

“When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of the man is worse than the first.”

MAINTAINING YOUR DELIVERANCE

In other words, these spirits seek to come back to influence a person that is delivered. Remember that Jesus was tempted by Satan and in Luke 4:13 the Bible says,

• “And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from Him for a season.”

These scriptures show that the devil left Jesus and looked forward to another opportunity. Satan and his cohort always look for opportunities to fight back. However, we praise God for the Name of Jesus.

• Now let us look at a few more scriptures:

“No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse. Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles and both are preserved.” Matthew 9:16-17

MAINTAINING YOUR DELIVERANCE

You see, you can’t be delivered and go back to your old demonic ways and habits of sin. You can’t put new wine in old wineskins. People get delivered and they go back to live sinful lives. That’s not God. That’s not God’s will. Maybe one more scriptures will suffice here. Following the move of the Holy Spirit in Acts 19:19, the Bible says:

“And many of those who had practiced curious magical arts collected their books and (throwing them book after book on the pile) burned them in the sight of everybody. When they counted the value of them, they found it amounted to fifty thousand pieces of silver” (about $9,300). Amplified

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE STEPS THAT YOU NEED TO TAKE TO

MAINTAIN YOUR DELIVERANCE? WE CALL THEM “THE TEN R’s”

MAINTAINING YOUR DELIVERANCE

A. REDEMPTION

Walk in the consciousness of the redemptive Power of the Blood of Jesus. He has set you free, and that totally. John 8:32,36; I John 4:4; 5:4; Isaiah 43:25; Romans 8:1; II Corinthians 5:17

B. REJECT

Reject any new symptoms of sickness, disease or poverty that Satan may attempt to place over you on a daily basis. Reject any attempts by the devil to make you dwell on your past. Isaiah 43:18-19; 25; Romans 8:1; Matthew 12:37

C. RENOUNCE

Renounce your old ways of sin, bad habits or demonic practices. This you may need to do publicly. Romans 6:14; Acts 19:19; Matthew 9:16-17; II Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 2:20; 5:19-21; Romans 8:6-13

MAINTAINING YOUR DELIVERANCE

D. REFLECT

Your lifestyle, on a daily basis, must reflect the faith that you now profess and possess. In Matthew 7:16, the Bible says, “Ye shall know them by their fruit…” Also, Galatians 5:22-23 The flesh needs crucifixion on a daily basis. I Corinthians 9:27; 15:31; Galatians 2:20; Philippians 3:7-10; Psalm 19:14

MAINTAINING YOUR DELIVERANCE

E. RESIST

Resist the devil and he will flee from you. James 4:7; Ephesians 6:10-18; Acts 10:38; Philippians 2:10; Mark 9:25 Resist Satan in a constant life of prayer and faith. You may need to fast, if necessary. Luke 18:1; Mark 9:23, 29; James 5:16; Matthew 26:41; II Corinthians 10:3-5; Isaiah 41:21; 43:26

F. READ

Read the Word, meditate on it, say it, believe it and STAND on it. I Timothy 4:13; Psalm 107:20; 119:9-11; 105; Joshua 1:8-9; Mark 11:23-24; 16:17-18; Hebrews 4:12; Isaiah 55:10-11; Ephesians 6:17; Zechariah 4:6; John 6:63; Matthew 12:34; Proverbs 30:32.

MAINTAINING YOUR DELIVERANCE

G. REFRAIN

Refrain from any forms of bitterness and unforgiveness. These are two major areas the devil will use to oppress and to destroy you. Romans 6:14; Matthew 6:14-15; 7:16,20; Proverbs 4:23 Do not listen to any talk that will get you into any bitterness with anyone. Mark 4:24; Luke 8:18

MAINTAINING YOUR DELIVERANCE

H. RECHARGE

Recharge your spiritual life on a daily basis. A rundown battery needs recharging. When you feel spiritually low and run down, don’t give up but recharge yourself. I Corinthians 14:4; Proverbs 27:17 Praying in tongues, praising the Lord, fellowshipping and encouraging someone will all help to recharge you.

Hebrews 10:25; Nehemiah 8:10; Isaiah 43:1-2;4,13; Proverbs 11:8; 21:18; Acts 1:8

I. RESPOND

Respond promptly to the leading and prompting of the Holy Spirit. Let Him direct your daily life. He will help you to know when wrong spirits are around you. He will warn you of any ill-happenings ahead of time. He will also show you your blessings and breakthroughs for you to claim. Proverbs 20:27; Romans 8:14,26-27; John 10:27

MAINTAINING YOUR DELIVERANCE

J. REMEMBER

Remember, in summary, four things you must do ALWAYS to maintain your deliverance.

1. The Word – read, study and meditate on it. II Timothy 2:14; Joshua 1:8-9.

2. Live Holy – 1 Peter 1:15-16; Matthew 5:48; I Thessalonians 5:17

3. Pray – In season and out of season. Luke 18:1; James 5:16

4. Constant Fellowship – Be in fellowship regularly. Faith comes by hearing. Hebrews 10:25; Proverbs 27:17; Romans 10:17

CONCLUSION

I praise the Lord for the deliverance ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am alive today because the Power of God delivered me from depression and death.

CONCLUSION

It is our prayer that many more believers and ministers will be anointed by the Holy Spirit into the Deliverance Ministry. IT IS THE MINISTRY for these last days, to set the captives free. Praise the Lord for Jesus!!! Let’s conclude thus:

“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him.” Acts 10:38

Let’s end with this Poem: He died on the cross for the curse He rose again for sin’s cause. Now in Him we’ll no more pause In prosperity for our posterity. Shout the shouts of victory Lift up His Mighty Name. For saints violent in prayer Have come to sing in victory. Overcoming our generation’s past Possessing the lands in victory passed.

The Passover in deed and power Has procured all eternity in praise. I am free, you are free No more, no more to flee. The enemy, his cohort must flee Ours is victory forever, indeed.
